Pregnancy and delivery can have an impact on your pelvic health, including issues with your bladder, bowel, sexual function, pelvic joints and pelvic floor muscle function. An assessment during or before pregnancy can help give you a head start on understanding your pelvic floor and what you can do to prepare for your baby's birth. Following delivery, a 6 week check is recommended for all women, regardless of mode of delivery, to assess pelvic floor function, muscle strength, address any pain/healing issues and assess for a rectus diastasis (tummy muscle separation).

Common pelvic health issues during and after pregnancy include stress urinary incontinence (bladder leakage when you cough or sneeze), reduced awareness of bladder filling, constipation, pelvic girdle pain and pain with sexual intercourse. Sarah will provide a thorough assessment to understand your issues and why they might be happening to you. An individualised management plan can help provide relief of your symptoms. Sarah can support you before, during, and after your pregnancy and delivery journey.

Sarah can assess you and recommend appropriate exercise during and after your pregnancy based on assessment findings and your goals. Exercising during pregnancy is encouraged and Sarah will help find ways you can do this comfortably. Returning to exercise and regaining fitness after delivery is very important and Sarah can guide you to do this safely.
