Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that addresses pelvic dysfunction. This can include issues with your bladder, bowel reproductive organs and/or genitals and topics relating to pain in and around these areas.

At your appointment, you'll be asked about any pelvic concerns and your consultation may involve an assessment of your pelvic floor function. Your pelvic floor muscles are at the base of your pelvis and provide active support to your pelvic, spinal and hip joints. Pelvic floor muscles also support your pelvic organs, help prevent bladder and bowel leakage and help you empty your bladder and bowel efficiently. The pelvic floor muscles are also involved in your sexual function.
You may be referred by a specialist doctor or a general practitioner, or you can self-refer to see a pelvic health physiotherapist.
Private health funds that cover physiotherapy services can provide rebates for appointments. Medicare rebates can provide partial payment of your consultation if you have been given a Chronic Disease Care Plan (CDCP) by your GP.
